I've actually been thinking about if it's possible to have an entire demographic of people move into a low population state and out vote their original population to take over their government
Like, the electoral college gives disproportionately more power to smaller states, so what if we just started invading those states to gain more power on the national scale?
Not to mention Congressional elections...
All of the gay people in America moved to Idaho, then kicked out the cishets and renamed it to Yassachusetts. Whenever there was an election it would be listed as a rainbow state instead of red or blue.

The Effects of Feeding Wildlife: Impacts on Animal Behavior, Population Dynamics, and Human Health
Feeding wildlife can have far-reaching consequences, both positively and negatively. It is important to understand the potential impacts that feeding wildlife can have on the behavior of individual animals, population dynamics, and human health.
Impacts on Animal Behavior
Feeding wildlife can change the behavior of individual animals by:
Reducing the fear of humans, which can lead to an increase in human-wildlife interactions
Increasing the activity of the animal, which can lead to increased energy expenditure and reduced energy reserves
Modifying the species diet, which may lead to imbalances of essential nutrients and vitamins
Leading to overcrowding in feeding sites, which can create competition for resources, increase the risk of disease transmission, and increase the risk of injury
Impacts on Population Dynamics
Feeding wildlife can also have impacts on population dynamics, such as:
Changing the behavior of the species in the area, which can affect the abundance and distribution of other species
Affecting the reproductive potential of the species, as juveniles may be more susceptible to predation in areas with dense human activities and artificially concentrated food sources
Altering the existing food web, as organisms may begin to rely on humans for an unnatural and unreliable food source
Human Health Risks
Finally, it is important to consider the human health risks associated with feeding wildlife. These risks include:
Exposure to zoonotic diseases, such as rabies, salmonellosis, and hantavirus
Exposure to arthropod-borne diseases, such as Lyme disease, West Nile virus, and eastern equine encephalitis
Injury from contact with wild animals, such as bites or scratches
contaminations of water sources, as wildlife can spread pathogen-carrying feces across a large area in a short period of time
Pollution of habitats, as large concentrations of wildlife can create high levels of waste
Overall, it is important for people to understand the potential impacts of feeding wildlife and to practice caution when interacting with wildlife.
Questions and Answers
What are the potential impacts of feeding wildlife?
Feeding wildlife can have impacts on the behavior of individual animals, population dynamics, and human health. Behavioral impacts can include reduced fear of humans, increased activity levels, modified diets, and overcrowding at feeding sites. Population dynamics impacts can include changes to the species’ behavior, reproductive potential, and the altered food web. Human health risks can include exposure to zoonotic diseases, arthropod-borne diseases, injury from contact with wild animals, contamination of water sources, and pollution of habitats.
What precautions should be taken when feeding wildlife?
It is important to be aware of the potential consequences of feeding wildlife, and to practice caution when interacting with wildlife. People should never feed wild animals without proper knowledge and precaution, and should always keep a safe distance from the animals when possible. In addition, people should follow all state and local regulations regarding the feeding of wildlife.

What response would you recommend to people attacking shipping? For that matter, what response would you recommend to Hamas doing that thing they did last October, which everyone has decided didn't happen and wouldn't matter if it did? I don't think the current response is good, but the alternative being offered is literally "roll over and die."
We are so far past a reasonable response to what Hamas did in October that “well what would you have done?” feels like a question that’s in extraordinarily bad faith, whether or not you mean it that way. A policy genuinely aimed at preventing massacres like the one in October starts with not illegally occupying territory, stalling a peace process indefinitely, and persistently dehumanizing and abusing a large civilian population—by the time we’re asking “how do you respond to a group like Hamas attacking civilians” we are already in the realm of abject policy failures, because a group like Hamas only exists because of Israeli policies. An honest response would be something like “fundamentally reassess our approach to Palestine.”
But if Israel has the kind of politics, and Netanyahu was the kind of leader, capable of doing that, it’s hard to imagine things getting this bad in the first place. This is one reason it’s important to put pressure on governments like the UK and US to criticize Israel’s actions, because the push for restraint is not going to come from within Israeli politics.

re: elf servants
I think generally there are servants in royal/noble households simply for practical reasons and they generally fall into 2 categories: specialised servants (think, stewards and messengers and scribes, masters of horses or kennels, that kind of thing) and servants who help with the upkeep of the household (cleaning, repairs, cooking and also the apprentices and assistants of specialised servants)
specialised servants are probably quite prestigious roles and fields of industry in their own right, and they are considered full members of a household, and probably are closely linked to the person they serve - it's as much a political and social statement to be Finwe's chief scribe as it is an economic one
but the second category are more associated with the house than the family living in it - for example, Finwe's palace in Tirion would function both as a home and a diplomatic and administrative centre, it would be impossible for him to rule and keep up with chores himself. But Fingolfin's personal home would probably not have any full-time servants - when there more people than usual to feed or house then professionals might be hired, but for the most part I imagine the day to day is done by the family (made possible by the fact elves sleep and eat less than humans)
IRL domestic service (at least in the 18th century) often functioned as a kind of prep stage for adult life (for women in particular, but gender is probably not as big a factor for elves) and I could definitely see this in Valinor - domestic servants being 80% elves between 50-100 who haven't chosen an apprenticeship or similar in another field who are earning extra money to set up their own households, getting experience outside of the family, meeting others in their own ae cohort, learning independence etc. It's a job that comes with the offer of room and board + the wages a king/prince/lord can provide. Not glamorous, but not terrible.
The other 20% is made up of professional servants - experienced elves who are genuinely like the work and are contracted workers as much as a builder or gardener might be. Some of them might be independent and others part of businesses set up by other elves who are really into cooking/cleaning etc.
In Beleriand the situation (for the exiles at least) is probably very different, though I think there would be attempts to adapt the system - but there aren't as many households that need servants and there aren't as many young elves.

Mood board for my latest project. Little bit of it below the cut.
You eat the lunch you packed and pull off your sweater, the noon sun warming you up enough to not need it, at least for the moment. You putt along to a new spot and try fishing again, this time catching three good sized fish. Surprising, considering the time of day, but sometimes you get lucky. You're thinking about heading back home when you spot a flash of white under the water.
You grab your camera, determined to be ready. And then a grey shape launches out of the water and into your boat, nearly capsizing it. The white orca sluices through the water next to your boat a moment later, regarding you disdainfully with one bloodshot eye. He flicks his tail as he dives again, soaking you and your passenger.
Your seal friend makes himself comfortable at the prow of the boat, entirely too pleased with himself.
"You're on thin ice, mister!" You tell him, turning back the way you'd come. Thanks to him you missed your photo and nearly went for a swim in deep water. You're pretty sure he couldn't help you out of that situation even if he wanted to, especially with a hunter swimming just below. You certainly don't want four inch teeth biting you in half.
Of course, you don't want to see your friend get eaten in front of you either. You know its the way of the ocean, but he's your little buddy.
The white orca cuts across your path again. You stop your engine, heart hammering, and grab your camera. He disappears into the depths for a moment, and then jumps a little ways away. If you didn’t know better, you’d say he was showing off. You get several quick snaps that you know will be gorgeous— Water droplets catching the sun, his ghostly white body stark against the backdrop of the dark ocean. You grin at the seal, and yelp when something thumps the bottom of your boat, rocking it harshly.
Then the white orca (he needs a name, so you land on Ghost) surfaces next to you, terrifyingly close, and spits water at the seal.
“Holy shit,” you breathe, adjusting your lens for the close contact, camera shutter clicking away as you shoot pictures. Ghost eyes you, and then spits water a second time. The seal looks deeply offended, but not concerned, even with his hunter bobbing in the water a few feet away. “Aren’t you a pretty boy.”
He is pretty. A juvenile, maybe, now that you see him up close— He’s a bit small for an orca, but he’s all alone out here, no pod to speak of, and a juvenile wouldn’t survive on it’s own. As if he can hear your compliment, he creaks at you.
The seal barks back. He seems offended by Ghost’s presence. Understandable, since Ghost was trying to eat him earlier. You get a few funny snaps of the two of them regarding each other over the rim of the boat, having a conversation that you have no way of understanding. You feel a bit insane. A bit like you’re going to wake up laying in the bottom of your boat any minute, and this will all be a funny dream.
#cave writing#I don't have a title yet so I can't make an actual title card#this hardly qualifies as a mood board but I'm a sick fuck and the orca throwing the seal gets me laughing every time#true GhostSoap dynamic#I'm listening to so much Stan Rogers rn#I was listening to the Corries but I didn't like their version of Barrett's Privateers so I got sidetracked#Free in the Harbour hits#I've also been doing a lot of research on orcas and let me tell you. People have not been good to them#But in Western North Atlantic populations there's been more and more sightings since the 90s in the Maritimes#And lots of calves!! There's less pollution from farming run off in the northern areas so the population isn't experiencing the same-#fertility problems that some other groups of orcas do#and they seem to be more diverse in their breeding practices too which is good#there's a pod in the Southern hemisphere that's like Hapsburg levels of inbreeding#Although there are still some breeding problems all over just from being apex predators#lots of pollutants collect high up in the chain#That's why the resident pods on the West Coast of north america seem to do a bit better - They're primarily fish eaters#versus transient whales that tend to eat more mammals and other whales#People need to get their shit together about the ocean#Sorry what was I saying#I'm working on a novel version of this because there's a bigger story to tell but I still want to finish this fic version and post it#Sitting around 9k now but I'll probably finish it before posting just to avoid another WIP people want me to update chapters on lmao#anyway I should go do some chores or something

Tbf Dacre's book is not the only Dracmina book around. There are also at least three retellings that are straight out bodice rippers (Dracula in Love, Dracula, My Love and the Italian book Our Secret Story) and a couple of sequels that have it (Freda Warrington's and Mina: the Dracula Story Continues.) On the other hand, there are at least 200 Dracula-based books in existence and most of them are even more obscure than Dracula musicals, so. There are also at least four Dracula/Jonathan books and two (very good) Dracula/Lucy ones.
Oh, absolutely, which was why I tried to be. Light on the books mentioned and to try to keep to books that I thought had gotten a bit of press/"legitimacy" over the years, aka being big enough names to be indicative of anything beyond "people really like to reinterpret Dracula." (It's also the problem with categorizing film adaptations because it VERY QUICKLY becomes "Is this Bram Stoker's Dracula or Is This Pop Culture Dracula, And Where Do We Draw the Line?") I also considered putting Anno Dracula and Dowery of Blood for relatively prominent novel adaptations/spin-offs that feature an unromantic/ abusive Dracula (the latter of which, IIRC, Mina doesn't even appear in.) I had forgotten Dracula, My Love, though! (...also, Anon...the Jonathan/Dracula and Dracula/Lucy novels? The villainfuckers of the world want to know!)
I mentioned Dacre's because. I hate this novel with every fibre of my being (...honestly if it'd just been Dracmina, it would have been salvageable, as opposed to the homophobic, sexist mess we were left with...) BUT it has the name "Stoker" attached to it so (I repeat: Dacre when I see you...) With The Dracula Tape, I mentioned it because I think it has a lot of stereotypes people think of when they think of a deconstructive approach of Dracula even though it is. A parody. And is part of this movement in the 1970s that is seriously interrogating Dracula as a text and trying to grapple with it, which includes grappling with Mina as a character and her dynamic with Dracula.
But the point is, thank you, yes!

Men are absolutely losing it because women are seeing through their bullshit and I'm here to watch their collective narcissistic meltdown
#I understand anti feminists because feminism is a CIA funded plant that dug its own grave in regards to the trans stuff#I understand anti fems until they start saying we need to feel compassion for incels lol#I can tell these anti feminist women have never got stuck with a narcissist / borderline personality man before#The only way you can deal with a Cluster B is shut them down like the animal they are.#No sympathy no compassion... Their entire pathology is about exploiting your compassion to get you to enable their evil.#They are demonically possessed individuals#Even if you don't believe in that stuff... If you've dealt with one before and processed it... you know there's no fixing them#You can't love incels out of hating women#They have a deep-seated womb envy that transcends feminism or anything to do with the modern times#Coddling them literally makes it worse#See if the population understood enneagram things would be much easier lol#4s (incels) need to get they ass whooped by some harsh eugenic 1-ness#You cannot love them out of being hateful#And 2s (gender conforming women) need to grow some self awareness and understand that they keep themselves trapped in the “feminine role”#It's not muh social conditioning muh patriarchy keeping women sympathizing with gross men#It is our own 2-ish hubris#I need to write a book about gender dynamics inspired by enneagram 2 cuz this understanding is so so lacking in our culture#When you try to “fix” a broken man you are trying to impose your will on him and establish power over him.#It's absolutely not about you being a poor little innocent victim of patriarchy even though that's what you become when it backfires on you#Speaking as a 2-ish woman who has learned the hard way you can't fix broken hateful men
